Just Because... [A poem.] Sort of.
Just because you have cash It doesn’t mean you have soul cash.
Just because you have cash
It doesn’t mean you have soul cash.
Just because the Puritans punished being lazy
It doesn’t mean you can’t stop and smell a daisy.
Just because Henry Ford made the work week forty
It doesn’t mean you can’t make it shorty.
Just because they say work hard for success
It doesn’t mean you can’t decompress.
Just because you have a vocation
It doesn’t mean you can’t take a vacation.
Just because Gladwell said it takes 10,000 hours to mastery
It doesn’t mean you can’t get to satisfactory.
Just because you are crazy busy
It doesn’t mean you’re not feelin’ dizzy.
Just because leisure is pleasure
It doesn’t mean it’s not a good measure.
Just because you think of time off as a luxury
It doesn’t mean it’s not suitable for self-discovery.
Just because you light a lavender candle
It doesn’t mean your brain can unscramble
Just because you live fearlessly
It doesn’t mean you’ve learned diversity
Just because you give two hours 50 percent
It doesn’t mean you can’t give an hour 100 percent.
Just because work is a necessity
It doesn’t mean it’s your identity.
Just because we live in time scarcity
It doesn’t mean we can’t pursue artistry.
Just because there’ll always be too much to do
It doesn’t mean you can’t renew.
Just because the world is beautiful
It doesn’t mean our behavior is excusable.
Just because tech makes it easy to work from anywhere
It doesn’t mean your boss believes in laissez-faire.
Just because you clear the deck fast
It doesn’t mean you get promoted to jiggermast.
Just because everyone wants your time
It doesn’t mean you can’t have playtime.
Just because you follow your difference
It doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference.
Just because you love to hustle
It doesn’t mean you can’t unhustle.
